Putin invites Europeans to participate.

Mr. Putin stated in an interview with Russian state media that Mr. Trump was viewing the Russia-Ukraine situation logically rather than emotionally, but he suggested it may not resolve as swiftly as the US president hopes.

In a recent statement, Mr. Putin mentioned that his discussions with Mr. Trump and the latest US-Russia dialogues in Riyadh included the topic of addressing the Ukraine conflict, although it was not elaborated upon extensively.

“We only agreed to move in this direction. And in this case, of course, we don’t refuse the participation of European countries,” he said in an interview.

Putin emphasized that Europe was not involved in the Riyadh discussions, which were aimed at fostering trust between Moscow and Washington, a goal he deemed crucial.

“To resolve complex and rather acute problems, such as those related to Ukraine, both Russia and the United States must take the first step,” Putin said.

“What does it consist of? This first step must be devoted to increasing the level of trust between the two states,” he added.

The upcoming discussions will focus on establishing trust, he mentioned, but when it comes to addressing the conflict, it makes sense for European allies to be involved.
